Privacy Policy

The short version

Mend doesn't require an account. We don't run ads or sell your data. Your photos are processed to generate repair analyses and stored so you can share results via link. That's it.

What we collect

  • Photos you upload. These are stored on our servers to generate your analysis and to make results accessible via shareable links.
  • Optional text descriptions. If you type a description of the problem, that text is stored alongside the analysis.
  • Basic request metadata. Standard server logs (IP address, timestamp, user agent) for operational purposes. We do not use this for tracking or profiling.

We do not collect names, email addresses, payment information, or any other personal identifiers. No account is required to use Mend.

How photos are processed

Your photos are sent to OpenAI's API for vision-based item identification and diagnosis. This means your images are transmitted to OpenAI's servers and processed according to OpenAI's API data usage policy. As of this writing, OpenAI does not use API inputs to train their models, but we encourage you to review their policy directly.

Pricing data is fetched from eBay's public sold listings. No personal information is shared with eBay in these requests.

How photos are stored

Uploaded photos are stored on our servers for as long as the analysis result exists. Photos are used to display results on shareable result pages and to improve the accuracy of the service over time.

Photos are not sold, licensed, or shared with third parties beyond the OpenAI API processing described above.

Third-party services

  • OpenAI API — Vision analysis and diagnosis generation.
  • eBay — Pricing data from public sold listings. No personal data transmitted.

We do not use third-party analytics, advertising networks, or tracking pixels. There are no cookies set beyond what is strictly necessary for the application to function.

No tracking or advertising

Mend does not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other third-party tracking service. There are no ads. We do not build user profiles or sell data to anyone.

Data retention

Analysis results and associated photos are retained indefinitely so that shared links continue to work. Server logs are retained for up to 90 days for operational and debugging purposes, then deleted.

Your rights

If you want a specific analysis and its associated photos deleted, email us at hello@applesauce.chat with the result link and we will remove it.
